In 1995 Doug went to work for Sidwell Brothers Construction, where he worked for Rod Sidwell. A man Doug admired and often quoted throughout his life. After leaving Sidwells, Doug owned and operated his own engineering firm.

Recently Doug served as an Adjunct Professor at Ohio University in Athens and Zane State College, where he taught and developed classes in Engineering, Surveying and Construction Management.
