Valerie “Sissy” Caplinger, 41, of Zanesville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was born January 18, 1977 to Raymond Caplinger Sr. and Mary Harvey in Zanesville. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter, and grandma.

She enjoyed spending time with family. She was very funny, outgoing, and would give you the shirt off her back. Her son, Robert, says she was a very caring mother.

Valerie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wayne and Wilda Caplinger; great-grandmother, Lucy Walsh; and step-mother, Kristy Moore. Valerie is survived by her four sons, Andre Morris, Robert Sowers, Jamie Garcia, Ezequiel Garcia; three daughters, Shanaz Sowers, Alicia Garcia, and Nevaeh Garcia; six siblings, Brice (Ozzy) Dusenberry, Raymond (Dan), Mindy Caplinger, Whitney Summer, Mick and Missy Caplinger, Kevin and Ashley Caplinger, Malinda and Walter Leonard, and Clifford and Erika Caplinger; one grandson, Gannon Waugh; life-long companion, Robert Sowers Jr.; close friends, William (Terry) Wilson, Charlie Morris, and Michele Mayle-Dooley; and a host of aunts, uncles, and many more family and friends. You may call on the family Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at the Anchor Church, 1365 Chamberlain St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
