Douglas Wayne Smith, Sr. 67, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home. Mr. Smith was born April 20, 1951 in Cabarrus County to the late Luther Pearson Smith and the late Marie Whitley Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Smith.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM -12:45 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Jerry Ingle.

Survivors include son, Douglas Smith, Jr (Wendy) of Oakboro; daughters, Michele Reynolds (Danny) of Fayetteville and Elizabeth Dickson (Rick) of Mooresville; sister, Sharon Starnes (Paul) of Locust; brother, Michael Smith of Asheville; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County and the Uwharrie, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Smith family.
