Roy Blandford Mullis, Sr., 90, of Monroe, NC passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Monroe Rehabilitation Center. Roy was born January 26, 1928 in Union County, NC to the late Chonce Blandford Mullis and the late Ersel Purser Mullis. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Gardner Mullis; sister, Lela Mullis Griffin; and brother, Wayne Mullis.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Mullis of the home; daughter, Sherry Mullis Hudson and husband Jim; son, Roy “Tom” Mullis, Jr.; grandsons, Chad Hudson, Shawn Hudson and wife Melissa; great-grandson, Cole Hudson; brothers, James Mullis, Buren Mullis and wife, Betty, Hubert Mullis and wife Joyce, George Mullis, June Mullis; sisters, Edith Mullis Little and Hazel Mullis VanBerschot; step-daughter, Tammy Weaver and husband Dale; as well as several nieces and nephews. Roy loved being outside working on his farm and taking care of his cows. He enjoyed traveling, meeting new friends, and spending time with old friends.

Roy loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his dog, Uno. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Zion United Methodist Church in Monroe.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, officiated by Rev. John Stein and Dale Weaver. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.
