Sandra Faye Player Hopkins, 76, of Davidson, NC went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. Sandra was born January 11, 1942 in Lumberton, NC to the late John Lavern Player and the late Clara Mae Meares Player. She was also preceded in death by her husband David Lee Hopkins; sisters Vivian Rhinehardt, Shirley Blackwelder; and brother Jerald Player.

Survivors include her daughter Kellie Hensley; son Charles “Chuck” Hensley and wife Sandy; granddaughter Sharon Jenkins and husband Travis; grandson Christopher Hensley; great grandchildren Taron Jenkins and Noah Hensley; and sister Catherine Byrd. Sandra enjoyed working in her yard and in her daughter Kellie’s woodshop where they made furniture together. She loved working at her church hot dog sale on Fridays, and loved to talk to people.

A very special thank you to Sherri Lynn Efird who took the best care possible of Sandra, and whom loved her very much for 35 years. As well as, Bryan Halsey and Chevis Armstrong for all the care and long talks that she enjoyed so much. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday, May 21, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.

The memorial service will be on Tuesday at 3:00 pm at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord, officiated by Rev. Mandy Jones. Private burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.
