Funeral Services for Doyle W. Busskohl, 90, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Reverend Dr. Raponzil Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. at Home for Funerals, 1203 W. Norfolk Ave. Mr. Busskohl passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at his home in Norfolk. Doyle Wayne was born April 5, 1928 in Norfolk, Nebraska to his parents Carl and Clara (Fisher) Busskohl.
He graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1946. Following graduation, Doyle obtained his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1950. While in college, he belonged to the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
On September 24, 1950, Doyle married Jane Hale at the First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. To this union, the couple was blessed with four children: Stephan, Shari, David and Susan. Doyle was a second – generation owner and a past President of the Board of Arrow Stage Lines.
During his leadership, the company grew from approximately 15 – 20 coaches and 2 locations to over 220 coaches with locations in 7 states. He was also the founder of Allied Tour and Travel (1962) and grew the operation from approximately 12 tours a year to currently over 50 escorted tours through out the United States, Canada and the world, plus handling many private groups and individual travel plans. He was a member of the following groups: YMCA Board, Tilden Bank Board, UNL Alumni Board, Norfolk Country Club, First United Methodist Men’s Breakfast, International Wine & Food Society, Norfolk Dinner & Dance, and the Sisters Hospital Board.
Doyle enjoyed tennis, golf, snow skiing, biking and traveling anywhere with family and friends. He loved going to and watching Husker football. He is survived by his children Stephen (Anita) Busskohl, Shari (Roger) Riggert of Centennial, CO, David (Cindy) Busskohl, and Susan Busskohl, grandchildren Luke, Cassie, Kristalynn, Eric and Alex, great grandchildren Noah, Brinly and Braelynn and nieces and nephews.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife Jane, parents, granddaughters Erika and Amanda, brother Douglas Busskohl and sister Beverly Perkins-Bobb. Memorials requested to the Fellowship of Christian Athletics, the YMCA or the Methodist Church.
