Obituary for Dr. Daniel A. Brandt Age 86; was born March 19, 1932 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and passed away April 19, 2018 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Daniel lived in various places in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin. He married the love of his life, Joan E. Simon, on November 27, 1954.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Joan; his dear children, Debbie (Robert) Kasper, Dean (Teresa), Dawn (Karl) Weber, and David (Rachael); his beloved grandchildren, Rebekah Kasper, Jacob Kasper, the late Elizabeth Kasper, Gabriel Kasper, the late Jennifer Weber, Kristine Weber, Anna Gremminger, Rick Weber, Emma Weber, Madi, and Sophia; and his great-grandchildren, Claire Kasper, Titus Kasper, Jude Kasper, Lila Kasper, and Evan Kasper. Dr. Brandt earned engineering degrees from Valparaiso, University of Wisconsin, and Purdue University. He worked for NASA on several projects assisting in the designing of spacecraft such as the first Lunar module to land on the moon and the robotic arm of the Challenger Space Shuttle.

He worked for Goodyear, Mechanical Products Company, Brandt Automatic Cashier Incorporated, and International Business Association where he rose to the position of president of the company. After that, he decided to go into teaching, serving as a professor of engineering at Western Wisconsin Technical Institute and Milwaukee School of Engineering until he retired. Daniel was very dedicated to his work with churches and ministries.

In churches, he often served as a Bible teacher and as an elder. He led a ministry with Hmong children in Milwaukee, led many home Bible studies and prayer groups, served as president and popular speaker in local chapters of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, worked with inner city churches, and supported many international missionaries. He volunteered with charities such as the Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts, Big Brother, severed as a voluntary probation officer, and as president of a local chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin.

Also, he was a member of Mensa. A visitation will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5-8pm at Nie Family Funeral Home with a private service held beforehand (2400 Carpenter Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48108). Burial will take place at Pilgrim Home Cemetery (Arcadia, MI 49613).
