Beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, treasured brother and uncle, Dr. G. Anthony Polk, age 68, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in Karnack, Texas. He was born on December 6, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to Dr. James Austin Polk and Dorothy (Mitchell) Polk. Dr. Polk is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James Austin and Dorothy Mitchell Polk; mother-in-law, Freddie Cowan; father-in-law, Gilbert Brochu Cowan and brother-in-law, Gilbert Leo Cowan.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Teresa Renee Polk; son, Aaron Mitchell Polk (Melissa); grandchild, Dillon Polk; brothers, Dr. James Donovan Polk (Joan) and Dr. Rod Eugene Polk; sister-in-law, Cathy Cowan Hoeksema; brothers-in-law, Robert Cowan, James Cowan, Rick Ehrheart; nephews, Anthony Polk, Rodney Polk, Zebulon Polk, Brian Gibson, Eric Gibson; nieces, Amy Harris, Brittany Polk, Britni Coats, as well as his special friends, Glenn Swisher and B.J. Hatton, honorary son, Wendell Morris and honorary nephew, Justin Andrews. Dr. Polk received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College and was in practice for 42 years. He was the former owner of Metroplex Imaging in Dallas, Texas and co-founder of Disaster Medicine.

Dr. Polk began his own practice, Polk Spine & Joint Pain Management Center in Marshall, Texas in 1996. He was dedicated to the Marshall community and was known to volunteer his services whenever needed. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved hunting and fishing.

Dr. Polk was well-loved and will be missed by all who knew him, including his patients who became part of his family as well. A visitation is scheduled from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with a memorial service directly following at 1:00pm with Dr. Jim Polk officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wendell Morris, Henry Alexander, George Davis, Justin Andrews, Glenn Swisher and Brian Gibson.
