Dr. Phyllis Parshall McDonald, age 84, of Gaithersburg, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Shady Grove Medical Center, Rockville. Born June 10, 1934 in New York, she was the daughter of Earl and Lena Race Parshall. She was the wife of Gerald M. McDonald, who predeceased her in 2015.

Dr. McDonald was very accomplished in her field, earning her PhD. At the time of her death, she was still teaching at Johns Hopkins University. Surviving are children, Melanie Massie and husband Robbie, Jennifer Novicio and husband Ray and Michael McDonald and wife Margie; nine grandchildren; 12 (and ½) great grandchildren; and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Libertytown, 9190 Church St., Union Bridge, MD (which is on Rt. 75 in Libertytown, one block north of the Rt.

26 intersection). Deacon Jerry Jennings will officiate. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
