Sylvia Jane Selby, age 78, of Frederick, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born July 16, 1939 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Helen Catherine Thompson Winpigler. She was the wife of Donald B. Selby Sr., her husband of 31 years.

Sylvia was employed with Kmart and retired after 27 years. She was a member of the Liberty-Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member… Read More » of the Red Hatters of Libertytown.

She enjoyed shopping, traveling, attending and volunteering at church activities, her pet cat “Miss Kitty” and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband she is survived by children, Connie Myers and husband Lyman “Shike” of Frederick, Robert “Bob” Morgan and wife Judy of Waynesboro, PA, Kevin Morgan and wife Stacey of Harpers Ferry, WV, Melisa Selby of Ft. Myers, FL, Danielle Lombardo and husband James of Summerville, SC and Karen Selby and Dennis Linton of Martinsburg, WV; son-in-law, Gary Smith of Frederick; sisters, Beverly Stang of Frederick and Debbie Bowers of New Market; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She will also be remembered by George Morgan of Jefferson. She was predeceased by daughter, Donna Smith, son, Donald Selby Jr., brothers-in-law, Luther Stang and Ronald Bowers and niece, Glenda Stang. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8 at Hartzler Funeral Home-Libertytown, 11802 Liberty Rd.

, Frederick, with her pastor, Rev. Jerry Cline, officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 7 and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty-Central United Methodist Women, P.O. Box 337, Libertytown, MD 21762.
