Memorial service for Dr. Robert W. Dean will be 11:00 am March 9, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church, under the direction of MMS-Payne Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Dr. Robert W. Dean passed peacefully from this world on Sunday, February 24, 2019, surrounded by family. Dad will be sorely missed.

Born August 17, 1926 in Tulsa, he attended Central High before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Stationed in San Diego during World War II, he was a Pharmacists Mate, where he found his love of medicine. After the war, he attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma.

An obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Dean delivered over 3,000 babies during a career practicing in Tulsa and Claremore that ended at the age of 88. Married in 1949 to his wife Helen, they raised four children in Claremore on an acreage he acquired and built a home on in 1968. He loved working on his property and raising cattle, both at home in Claremore, and on a ranch in Foyil.

Dr. Dean is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen, sons Paul (Cindy), Bob (Cheryl), and Jim (Lise), and a daughter, Kimberly (Jimmy Lee); five grandchildren, Landon Dean, Erin and Evan Dean, and Jennifer Rudeen and Robbie Dean; as well as three great-grandchildren, Braxton Dean, Blake Dean, and Brynlee Rudeen. Memorials may be made in Dr. Dean’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church at 102 E. 4th St. Claremore, Ok 74017 View and sign Dr. Dean’s online tribute at www. mmsfuneralhomes.com.
