Kenneth’s Obituary Services honoring and remembering Kenneth Ragan, a resident of Claremore, OK and former Kansas resident will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 11, 2019, at the Rice Funeral Service Chapel in Claremore, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday afternoon at Rice Funeral Service in Claremore. Kenneth was born in Moscow, KS the son of Lee Ragan and Julia (Edwards) Ragan, and stepfather Pete Stoddard.

After graduating from Moscow High School Kenneth served his country in the US Army. After his time of service was over, Kenneth returned to his hometown, he married his young bride, Ruby on Valentine’s Day, 1959. This union was blessed with two daughters, that they raised in Ulysses, KS.

Kenneth worked for Kansas Power and Light in Ulysses, serving in the capacity of “Hard Worker” and he later worked and retired from Panhandle Eastern as a Corrosion Technician. After retirement, he began a new career working all over Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri as a gas line inspector. Ruby and Kenneth eventually made their home in Claremore, and in July of 2006, the love of his life: Ruby passed away.

In the autumn years of Kenneth’s life God blessed him with another true love, Cheryl. . They were together for the remaining years of his life.

Kenneth and Cheryl would work together as a team for Carter Hospice, and New Century Hospice: He working as a volunteer, as well as chauffeuring her from home to home while she completed her notes. Kenneth will be remembered for his dry wit, his dependability, and his soft kind heart. He was “okay” being supportive and didn’t mind helping in the background.

He was a true friend. Kenneth was preceded in death by his first wife: Ruby (Bullard) Ragan; father: Lee Ragan; his mother: Julia Stoddard; brothers: Marvin Ragan, Elvin, and Jack Stoddard; sisters: Mary Louise Glover, Katherine Kolb Sickler. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ragan of Claremore; two daughters: Shelley and Scott Miller of Thornton, CO, Sharla Winger and Kriston Stegmeier of Wichita, KS; four grandchildren: Shana and Michael Shaeffer of Henderson, CO, Shane Miller of Thornton, CO, Madison Winger, and Mason Winger of Wichita, KS; two sisters: Opal Hall and her husband George of Hugoton, KS, and Christine Munson of Hugoton, KS; as well as many nieces; nephews; other relatives; his three dogs: Taco, Fred, and Timmy; and many friends.
