He was born July 10, 1940 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Eugene and Bernice (Stewart) Benton. Survivors include his sons, Jim Benton (Allison) and Tim Benton; and his daughters, Dana Savage and Lana Kofler; two brothers, Stan and Ron Benton; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
