Obituary for Edith Freeman Harris BENBROOK – Edith Freeman Harris, 97, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Edith was born Dec. 12, 1920 in Durant, Okla.

She loved her family and would do anything to help them. Edith was a prayer warrior for many bright years and lived to see her prayer’s answered. She sang in the choir at Grace Baptist Church.

She belonged to the Golden Strings musical group where she played guitar and sang lead vocal. Music kept her young and was an integral part of her life. You didn’t have to ask her twice to yodel.

She loved to sew, bake brownies, had a strong sense of hospitality and could make the best glass of ice tea in Texas. Edith was deeply loved and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William James Harris; and daughter, Paula Vermillion.

Survivors: Son, Billy Harris (Janice); daughters, Vickie Taylor (John) and Sherry Steward (Buford); nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Gay Merton.
