Edna Louise Smith Hodges September 21, 1948 – December 11, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Edna Louise Smith Hodges, of 244 Joe Oulla Road, Ware Shoals, South Carolina departed her earthly life on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Petra Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in McCormick, South Carolina. was born in Hodges, South Carolina on September 21, 1948 to Clorann Smith Bates and the late Calvin Dewitt Smith. .

She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church at a young age then later joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Coronaca, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Nathaniel and James Calvin. Edna devoted her career to Eastward Sportswear and Ware Shoals Manor ALR.

Edna also loved cooking, sewing, reading, singing and writing poetry. A graduate of Brewer High School, she was her class salutatorian. Leaving to cherish her memories are; her mother, Clorann Bates of Cincinnati, Ohio; a special friend, Ellis Arnolds, Jr., of the home; two brothers, Larry Smith and Samuel Bates both of Cincinnati, Ohio; five sisters, Barbara, Betty, Geraldine, Jenatra and Stacey Bates all of Cincinnati, Ohio; two uncles, Roy Smith and Reverend James Williams both of Hodges, South Carolina; one devoted aunt, Suetta Ward of Due West, South Carolina; two devoted nieces, Sharita Freeman and Makeisha Smith of Ware Shoal, South Carolina; a special nephew, Reverend Donnie Kennedy (Marilyn) of Due West, South Carolina; a special cousin, Howard Smith (Sandra) of Greenwood, South Carolina, one sister-in-law, Francine Smith of Ware Shoals, South Carolina and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at the chapel of Parks Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Kennedy officiating . Burial will be in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Hodges, SC.

Pallbearers and Flower Bearers will be cousins. The family is at their respective homes. Parks Funeral Home is assisting the Smith-Hodges Family.
