In Loving Memory of Edna Mae Latson Officiating Rev. Ronald Scott Edna Mae Latson better was known as “Mama GeGe” was born, July 4th, 1919 in Oralabor, Iowa and made her transition on December 29, 2018, in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the daughter to Pearl and Isaiah Brown.

Edna was the 5th child out of 15 children and was better known as the “Chief” throughout her family and was a trusted family member until her death. Edna attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Oralabor and moved to Chicago, IL at the age of 16. While in Chicago, she joined Carey Tercentenary AME Church and worked various jobs and was active in politics.

Edna met the love of her life, George Latson and they both loved to travel. She was heavily involved with her community and was a leader in the Daughter of Isis, Arabic Court #21 as Dt. Imperial Ambassador at Large and the Order of Easter Stars (OES) where she held the top position as Worthy Matron for several years.

Edna moved to Union Springs, AL in the early ’80s and continued to be a beacon of the community and volunteered with the Bullock County School System. She became a devoted member of Wayman Chapel AME Church and continued to give her time and love to all members until her death. Edna had two children Robert Latson Sr. (Cynthia H. Latson) and Rosada Rice (Charles Rice Sr; deceased), both proceeding her in death along with three sisters Alice Mae Brown, Helen Brown, Delores Brown and seven brothers, Isiah Brown, William Brown, Lorenzo Brown, Elmer Brown, Alfred Brown, Rev.

Theodore Brown and Robert Brown. Edna leaves to forever cherish her memory six grandchildren, Robert Latson Jr, (Nicole), Sylvia Elizabeth Latson, Cynthia Claudine Latson, Tianna Dowdell (Sylvester), Adrianna Seabrook (Vincent) and Charles Rice Jr; Nine great grandchildren Kaela, Georgia, Kyra, Kai, Robert III, Ashely Amirh, Jonathan, Joshua (deceased), Marquis, Micaiah and one great-great-grandchild, Cynthia Elizabeth Moore. Three brothers, Marvin Brown (Shirley), Leroy Brown (Charlotte-deceased) and Raymond Brown (Bonita) and a baby sister Claudine Muldrow along with Leonard “Champ” Bradley (nephew), son-like Dwayne Hudson and daughter-like Ida Mae and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
