Obituary for Edna Stultz Martin Edna Mae Stultz Martin died peacefully in her home in Horsepasture, Virginia on Monday, November 26, 2018, at the age of 90. Edna is survived by her four children, Gayle Jessee of Axton, Linda Bradley of Los Angeles, California, Gerald Martin, Jr. of Martinsville and Tim Martin of Ridgeway. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Joanna Roye of Christiansburg, Laura Bradley of Los Angeles, California, and Amanda Buckner of Roanoke; and three great-grandchildren Sage and Theo Roye of Christiansburg, and Jesse Buckner of Roanoke.

She is also survived by four siblings: Jerry Stultz of Florida, Chris Stultz of Ridgeway, Shirley Parcell of Fieldale, and Lois Stultz of Ridgeway. Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Gerald Ivan Martin, Sr She was also preceded by siblings Dora Hutcherson, Virginia Goulding, William Stultz, Jr., Margaret Stultz, George C. Stultz, Carolyn Barton, Edward Stultz, and Charlotte Martin.

Edna was born November 28, 1927 in Ridgeway, Virginia, to William T. Stultz, Sr. and Goldie Stultz. She was the 7th of 13 children. Edna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church for 63 years, where she ministered to the children by teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Vacation Bible School. While caring for her four children as a Stay at Home Mom, she was active in the Home Demonstration Club, Women of the Horsepasture Volunteer Fire Department and Horsepasture Ruritans. When Edna’s youngest child started school, she returned to work as a Teacher’s Aide in the Henry County School System.

When her granddaughters were born, Edna retired from her job to devote her full time and attention to being the best Grandmother any child could ever want. She also volunteered at the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and the Spencer Center. She was a member of the Red Hats Racers Women’s Group.

A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, November 29, at 11:00 A. M. at Horsepasture Christian Church with visitation for the family preceding the service at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The funeral will be officiated by Rev. Dave Cuthbertson.
