Edna Ruth (Bishop) Morris, 99, a lifelong resident of Easton, went home to the Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Born October 25, 1919, in Easton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna (Van Arsdale) Bishop. Her husband, Walter W. Morris, Sr., died in 1981.
Edna graduated in 1937 from Easton High School and attended Virginia Seminary. She was last employed as a sales associate by WalMart, Rt. 248 in the fabric department for 21 years.
Edna was an avid bowler and held many leadership positions over the years. She was a member of the PA State USBC WBA for 59 years, actively participated in PA State Women’s activities for 56 years and attended state meetings and tournaments for 50 years. She attended national conventions for 42 years and served on the tellers committee.
Edna held the president’s position in the Easton WBA for one term and then was elected secretary, a position she held for 42 years. In 1997, Edna was elected into the Easton Hall of Fame and was also selected to receive the PA State USBC WBA Outstanding Senior Bowler Award. Her real passion was the PA Women’s 600 Club where she was elected a director in 1972.
She was elected vice-president, a position she held for four year and then as president for 16 years. Edna bowled for 60 years, traveling across the United States to attend bowling tournaments. She was a delegate to the national convention for over 25 years.
Edna was a life member of the Easton USBC, UBSC and the Pennsylvania Women’s 600 Club. Edna was a veracious reader, embroiderer and did crossword puzzles every day. She was a lifetime member of First Moravian Church, Easton, where she was given the “Outstanding Member of the Year Award” in 2014.
She was also a member of the choir for 40 years. Surviving are three daughters, Joan Stachnik and her husband Frank, of Holland Township, NJ, Anne Logan, with whom she resided, and Barbara Morris, of Gilbert, PA; grandchildren, Molly Brummer, Dr. Suzanne Patterson, Betsy Little, Robert Werkheiser, Sr., Bonnie Werner, Brenda Repsher, Frank Morris and Joshua Morris; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Jacob Brummer, Robert Werkheiser, Jr., Conor and Colleen Patterson, RaeLynn Morris, Pete Repsher, Samantha and Amber Werner; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Marie Danko, of Nazareth. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by sons, Walter “Pete” Morris, Jr. (1995) and George A. Morris (2012), grandson, George Morris, Jr., (1995) and a brother, Frank Bishop.
Services will be held at 1:30pm Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Call Monday 12:30-1:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine.
