Of Trafford, age 86, died June 18, 2018 at Transitions Health Care, North Huntingdon, where he was a resident for three years with complications from spinal surgery and diabetes. Ed was born February 9, 1932 in Monessen, the youngest son of Andrew and Mary Kasandra Chuprinko. He was predeceased by siblings Andrew, Albert, George, Emile, Joseph, Sue Strelick, and Mary Bezuska.

He graduated in 1950 from Monessen Vocational High School and served in the Army from December 1952 to December 1954. He was employed by Wheeling – Pittsburgh Steel in Allenport before entering California University of Pennsylvania from which he graduated in 1964. While working on his masters, in Industrial Arts, he received a National Defense Education Act Scholarship to E. Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN.

Ed taught Industrial Arts for Penn-Trafford School District for 28 years, where he was affectionately known as Mr. C, where high school boys made grandfather clocks, gun racks and furniture. Middle school students made projects such as lamps, tables, checker boards, book ends, wall sconces and paper towel holders. In 1958 he married Marylyn “Bunny” Tesack, who survives and their children Paul, his wife Sonja and children Pierce and Shelby in Dallas, TX; daughter Rebecca Barclay of Trafford, and her son Matthew of Pittsburgh; son Neil, his wife Barbara, and their son Brennan of New Jersey.

Ed enjoyed volleyball, golf and bowling with the Trafford Middle School faculty, and going to yard sales and flea markets. He reconditioned radios and flashlights for emergencies which he sold at flea markets. He reconditioned toys and bikes which he gave to children.

He also helped his wife with crafts. Active at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, he served on the church board and helped with baking nut rolls. Friends welcome Sunday Noon-2 & 6-8 PM in the Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Ave.

at Cable, East Pittsburgh, 412-824-8800. , where a Funeral Service will be prayed at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church on Monday at 10 AM.

Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
