Edward “Ed” Colley, 90, of Crawford, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EDT on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Phenix City with Dr. Thomas Peavey officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Mr. Colley was born October 29, 1927 in Richmond Hill, NY to the late Harry R. Colley and Frieda Gunther Colley. He served our country with honor with 23 years of service and was retired from the United States Navy.

He then later worked with Civil Service at Fort Benning and was retired with 20 years of loyal service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 135, VFW Lodge 335, was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, served as Cub Scout Master, Committee member of the Boy Scout Troup, and was former President of the PTA at Brunswick, GA. He recently worked with AARP as a tax Counselor, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder of the church.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Colley, and Albert E. Colley. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 ½ years, Lucy “Bernice” Goodrich Colley of Crawford, AL, five children, Deborah Colley Williams of Phenix City, AL, Harry J. Colley and wife Mary Kay of Green Grove Springs, FL, Chery B. Colley Copeland and husband Fred of Lake Harding, AL, Martin E. Colley and wife Tammy of Columbus, GA, and Allen S. Colley and wife Lynne of Smiths Station, AL, (9) grandchildren, (11) great grandchildren, numerous extended family members, church family, and many caring friends.
