HOLYOKE: Edward J. “Eddie” Prajzner, 76, of Holyoke, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, after a short illness. “Eddie, we will miss your beautiful blue eyes and never forget your beautiful voice”. He was born in Northampton on June 18, 1941 to the late Edward S. Prajzner.

He graduated from South Hadley High School and Holyoke Junior College. After college, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era from 1962 to 1964. When he returned home, he met the love of his life, Mary Lunardini.

They were married for almost 52 years and together raised what Eddie called his “King’s Family”; two boys and two girls. He spent most of his career in the insurance field, spending 20 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield. He was an avid golfer and one of the highlights of his life was playing the beautiful courses in Ireland.

He was a big fan of New England sports, especially the Red Sox. His love of sports extended to the local community. In 1992 he helped to create “Save School Sports”, which benefited sports programs in Holyoke.

Besides his wife, he leaves his beloved children, Carolyn M. Prajzner of Holyoke, Christopher E. (Beth) Prajzner of Carlsbad, CA, Jennifer E. Chateauneuf (Kevin) of Holyoke and Teddy (Kate) Prajzner of Hadley. He leaves three grandchildren, who were the joys of his life, Zachary and Chloe Prajzner and Emma Chateauneuf. He leaves three sisters-in-law, Barbara Murphy (Jim) of Centerville, Julie Janocha (Casimir) of South Hadley and Marcia Lunardini of Chicopee and one brother-in-law, John Lundardini (Janice) of Holyoke.

He also leaves several nieces and nephews and special friends, Frannie and Kathy Skwira. He was predeceased by an uncle, Frank Prajzner, two brothers-in-law, William Lundardini and Antonio Lundardini and a sister-in-law Paula Lunardini. The Prajzner family would like to thank Home Health Solutions and Mary Greaney, who took such wonderful care of Eddie at home.

An extra special thank you to the compassionate and caring staff at Holyoke Health Care Center. The family is forever grateful. The Funeral will be held Monday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Cross Parish Church, 23 Sycamore Street.

Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Above all else, he loved his family.
