Edward J. Treacy, 67, of Gwinn, died early Monday morning, November 19, 2018 at his home in the presence of his loving family. Ed was born on July 27, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan, an only child born to the late Harvey and Josephine (Rudish) Treacy. He was a 1969 graduate of Coldwater High School and then attended Kellogg Community College as well as Central Michigan University.

Ed was employed by the Michigan Department of Corrections in Ionia and Coldwater as a Sergeant. … Read More » In 2008, he and his wife, Jean, moved to the Gwinn area from Kalamazoo. Ed was a proud member of the Socialist Party.

In his free time, he loved to read, collect coins and also loved studying history. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the former Jean Schlotter, whom he married on May 31, 1975 at Midland, MI; two sons, Michael (Melissa) Treacy and Eric (Jennifer Mogan) Treacy, both of Marquette; seven grandchildren, Collin Treacy, Brett Niemela, Darby Treacy, Hanna Niemela, Molly Treacy, Arlo Mogan, and May Mogan. There are no services scheduled at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Socialist Party USA, 168 Canal Street, 6 Floor, New York, NY 10013 in Mr. Treacy’s memory. The Canale Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the Treacy family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com.
