Edward John Kiley September 09, 1948 – January 27, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Edward “Ned” Kiley, 70, longtime resident of Leesburg, attorney, and former partner at Washington DC law firm Grove, Jaskiewicz and Cobert, died Sunday at Lansdowne INOVA Hospital in Leesburg after a brief illness. Mr. Kiley was extensively involved in community organizations over his forty-plus years as a resident of Leesburg and Middleburg. He was a member of the Loudoun County School Board in the 1990s, and more recently he was a board member of the Board of Architectural Review.

He was also a supporter of the Oatlands Historic Trust, and other historical and cultural organizations in the county. He was born in Jersey City in 1948, and raised in New York City and Westfield, N.J. Mr. Kiley is a graduate of Villanova University and George Washington Law School.

He spent his entire legal career at the same firm where he achieved partner status and retired in 2008. Mr. Kiley continued to practice law in Leesburg, focusing on state regulatory affairs and employment law. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Vestry.

Passionate about U.S. history, Mr. Kiley studied The Civil War, and lectured on the subject to classes while on the Leesburg School Board. He also studied World War II inspired by the story of his namesake Edward “Uncle Eddie”Kiley who was killed in action in the Battle of The Hurtgen Forest in Germany in 1944, as well as his father, Charles Kiley, who was a news correspondent during the war. Mr. Kiley is survived by his wife, Paula Kiley; three daughters, Jennie Renna of Maynard, Mass.

, Leah Mullins of Amherst, Va. , Anne Catherine Kiley of Frederick, Md. ; a son, Joseph of Minneapolis; four brothers, Charles of Mountainside, NJ, Paul of High Point, NC, John of Clayton, NC, David of Ann Arbor, MI; one sister, Anne Kiley of Hammondsport; and four grandchildren; Kiley, Marianna, Anson, and Dawson.

There was a brief service of Christian burial at Union Cemetery on Friday, February 1st. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent Loudoun Hunger Relief in Leesburg. A memorial service will take place at St. James Episcopal Church to be announced shortly.
