Edwin’s Obituary SOUTH GLENS FALLS — Edwin E. Maxam, 85, of South Glens Falls went to be with his wife in heaven on Saturday, November 24, 2018 after losing his battle to Alzheimer’s. Edwin was born on March 27, 1933 in Johnsburg, NY to Vernon and Ida (Cameron) Maxam. Edwin graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1952.

He served in the Army from 1953 to 1956 and is a veteran of the Korean War. Edwin made his living as a carpenter working for Northern Homes for 30 years. He loved nature, the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He also took great pride in keeping a well-maintained lawn. Edwin was a member of the Garnet Lake 9 Hunting Camp, a place where he also loved spending time with his family. Edwin married Joan Breen on April 28, 1956 at St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls.

Besides his wife and parents, Edwin is predeceased by his baby sister, Nancy; two sons, Michael Blair and Mark Maxam; and his best friend, Michael Morency. Left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Lisa Stone (Jeff), MaryJo Taylor (Dennis) and Carolyn Bannon (Edward) all of South Glens Falls, and Lynne Gill (Rusty) of Fort Edward; two sons, Roger Maxam of Chestertown and David Maxam of South Glens Falls; fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters, Betty Wells of Florida and Shirley Capone of Queensbury; one brother, Donald Maxam of Wilton, he also leaves behind his good buddies at Garnet Lake 9 and his special companion, Sylvia McCall. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday.

November 28 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. , Schuylerville. We would like to thank the staff at Glens Falls Hospital Tower 2 and Fort Hudson G Wing for the care and comfort they gave during this difficult time.
