Elizabeth’s Obituary GLENS FALLS – Elizabeth Brown MacPherson, 78, died peacefully at The Pines at Glens Falls, New York, on October 25, 2018. Born in New York City on February 15, 1940, Betsy was the daughter of Anastasia Regis Phelan and Lloyd Stanley Brown of New York City and North Creek, NY. She grew up in Riverdale-on-Hudson where she attended St. Gabriel’s School together with many lifelong friends.

She was further educated at Sacred Heart Academy in New York and Rosarian Academy in Palm Beach, FL. After completing business studies at the Mary Byers School, she was employed by Owens-Corning Corporation, New York. There she met and married Charles Richard MacPherson, a Vice President of the company.

Betsy then lived and worked in many cities. Her son, John Charles MacPherson was born in Nashville TN. At retirement from Gibson Guitar Company in Nashville, Betsy moved to Queensbury, NY.

This allowed her to spend many happy summers in the Adirondack Mountains in Minerva. During those early childhood years of her lifetime, Betsy truly enjoyed being in the mountains with family, including her Grandfather, William J. Phelan (deceased), her mother, father, aunts, uncles and Phelan cousins who included Kathy, Martha, Anastasia and Margot; her siblings, John J. Brown (Gail), Anne Brown McShane Adams, Frank McShane (deceased), John R. Adams; and brother, Anthony Paul Brown (deceased) and his wife Michele; nephews and nieces, Edward, John, Stephen, Lloyd, Anastasia, and Elizabeth. In addition to being a talented businesswoman, Betsy was an excellent musician and sang in church choirs wherever she lived.

She had a beautiful voice and could sing any required parts. She was also a sacristan at her home church in Nashville. Betsy’s family would like to thank her very professional caregivers and friends from The Pines in Glens Falls.

Throughout her illness they were kind and caring and brought out the best in all their patients. Betsy loved children and her greatest joy was her grandchild, Owen Charles MacPherson, son of Kathleen Anne MacPherson and John Charles MacPherson. Owen will miss his grandmother as will we all.

Calling hours will take place Saturday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette Street, Queensbury, New York 12804. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private to the family.
