Bernard’s Obituary Glens Falls — Bernard D. Bauer, 83, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019. Born March 31, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Bernard and Anne (O’Neill) Bauer. Bernard graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School.

He proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1952 until 1960. In 1958, Bernard married the love of his life, Veronica (Roni) Reilly, in Brooklyn, NY. They were happily married for 31 years.

Throughout his life he had many careers, including Foreman of Robert Hall Clothing and Warehouse manager of K-Mart. Bernard was a member of the Drum Corps Association and the American Bowling Association. He put his heart and soul into volunteering as the Director and Equipment Manager of the OLPH Ridgeman Drum and Bugle Corps for over two decades.

There, he was a mentor and friend to many. He was also a lifetime bowling enthusiast and proud recipient of the prestigious 300 game ring. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Roni; his brothers, Edward Bauer and James Bauersfeld, and his sister, Naomi Haken.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Bryan (Karen) Bauer, Michael (Karen) Bauer and, his son and best buddy, Andrew Bauer; his grandchildren, Jessica Bauer, Chelsea Hathaway (Eric), Robert Colton (Trista), Tiffany Bapp (Anthony); great-grandchildren, Kaden, Aaliyah, Jordan and Kole; his sisters, Helen Bruski and Rose Esposito; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be private for the family. Funeral Mass will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery Chapel in Queens, NY.

Interment, with military honors, will follow the Mass. In loving memory of Bernard, donations may be made to High Peaks Hospice, Inc. of Glens Falls, 454 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801, or Veteran’s Administration, 113 Holland Ave. , Albany, NY 12208.
