James’ Obituary In Huntington, NY James Edward Moeller, 92, died Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2018, peacefully in the arms of his daughter and her three children. Born November 24, 1926 in Holdenville, Oklahoma, James was the son of the late Gustave Moeller and Marie Pheiffer. Along with his parents, James was predeceased by his older brother John Moeller, and his older sisters Edith Moeller Keys and Gertrude Moeller Fields.
James was also predeceased by his first wife, Mary R. Moeller, and his only son, James E. Moeller Jr He is survived by his daughter, Christy Moeller Visbal and her three children, Michael James Visbal, Caroline Marie Nicole Visbal and Lauren Irene Victoria Visbal. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Emma Shea Visbal and James Matthew Visbal.
He was also survived by his step-daughter, Sherry Kay Campbell and his granddaughter, Shannon Brynn Campbell. James attended Holdenville High School and went on to become a Class A PGA professional. He was a self-employed entrepreneur and in Oklahoma he wore many hats as he sold Mineral rights, sold insurance, was a contractor/developer, cattle rancher, pecan & peanut farmer, professional auctioneer, became a Class A PGA professional, who was formerly a cowboy, who roped cattle and doggies; in California he was a land developer, an avocado rancher, he was the owner/operator of Mission Bay Golf Course in San Diego, and Member & President of the La Jolla Country Club; and in Texas he was a member of Preston Trails Golf Club, located in Dallas.
Whether James was at home, work, or on the golf course, he held the bar high, and his friendship had to be earned. Like a redwood tree, James stood tall, and his presence always shaded, and protected his family from the elements of the world. He instilled discipline, integrity, and moral values, deep into the roots of his family.
As once the president of La Jolla Country Club, in San Diego, James was responsible for planting over 100 trees on the golf course in one year. For those reasons, and in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor his memory, can make a donation to The Grove of Titans project at RedwoodParksConservancy.org, a non-for-profit organization, supporting the Redwood trees of the California State Parks. From now until December 31st, any donation made, will be matched by the Save The Redwood League.
There will be no services at this time. However a Celebration of Life memorial event will be held on Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 at the family home from 3-9pm, at One Marion Lane, in Huntington, NY 11743. Condolences may be sent through www.
