Edwina Fern Flom December 21, 1933 – November 27, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Edwina Flom, 84, of Milton, ND, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND. Edwina Fern Thrugstad was born December 21, 1933, by Fairdale, ND, the daughter of Edwin and Nora (Nygaard) Thrugstad. She grew up on the family farm by Fairdale and attended grade school and graduated from Fairdale Public School.

On September 7, 1952, Edwina married the love of her life, James Flom, of Milton, ND, at Aadalen Free Lutheran Church of rural Fairdale. They made their home on the family farm in rural Milton, and it was there that they raised four very energetic boys. Edwina enjoyed life to the fullest.

She was church organist at St. Stephen Lutheran Church for over 20 years. She was treasurer of the congregation and the president of their ALCW. She also served on the Milton School PTO.

She was a member of the North Dakota China Painter Guild and served a two-year term as secretary of the Guild. She was an approved and registered International China Painter instructor. Edwina was also director of activities at Osnabrock Good Samaritan Center for over 15 years.

She loved to read and knit. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Due to her health, Edwina spent the last year in Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon where she got wonderful care and enjoyed visiting with the staff.

Edwina is survived by her husband of 66 years, James, of Milton; sons: Jameson (Shirley) of Michigan, ND, Jon of Winfield, KS, and Eric of Hoople, ND; nine grandchildren: Jason, Nathan, Amy, Kevin, Samantha, Krystle, Klara, Russell, and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Guy; brother Duane Thrugstad; sisters: Naomi Danielson, Millie Axvig, and Verona Johnson; in-laws Gilbert and Klara Flom; and her sister-in-law, Nadine (Henry) Charbonneau. A memorial service for Edwina will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock, ND, with visitation starting one hour prior to service time at the church.

Inurnment will be in the spring of 2019 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Milton, ND.
