Effie’s Obituary Effie “Aunt” Mae Brunson was born in Kernes, Texas on February 22, 1920. She went home to be with our father on March 20, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father Lee Simmons, her mother Indie Shields Simmons, her brothers George Noah Simmons, Jessie Preston Simmons, David Brazzel Simmons and Jake Dean Simmons, her sisters Josie Ann (Sis) Adams, Addie Lee Brunson, Bobbie Jean Ferguson and Patsy Standerfer, and her beloved husbands Wilburn Headen and Thomas Brunson.

Although she never gave birth to her own children, she was loved like a mother by her nephews Thomas, Alvin and Calvin Brunson, who also preceded her in death. Over the course of her ninety-nine years, Aunt Mae was blessed to brighten the lives of many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews and even great-great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was a special, loving, giving woman who embraced everyone she met like family, and many family friends introduced along her life journey also came to love her as their Aunt Mae.

But to most of us, she was much more: she was a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother and so on. She will be remembered with smiles, laughter and love.
