Elaine’s Obituary On New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2019, God gave Elaine Savannah Mitchell Ware the desire of her heart and welcomed her from her labor here on earth to eternal rest with Him. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 17, 1922, to the late James and Savannah Mitchell. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Roy Ware.

Her sisters, Lily, Fannie, Doris, Maggie and Mary preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by nieces, Brenda Munford, Barbara Holland and Cleo Hayes; nephew, James Bailey and cousin, Margie Jumper. She was educated in the Roanoke City School System graduating from Lucy Addison High School in 1940.

Before moving to Pittsburgh, PA she could be seen working beside her husband Roy at his convenient store “Ware’s Grocery “on Henry Street. They later relocated to Cleveland, Ohio and remained there for twenty years before moving back to Roanoke in 1979. She lived a full life in her chosen work field of office assistant working at Osbourne Manufacturing Corp.

She leaves to mourn her passing and rejoice in her memory, one daughter, Gwendolyn Ware; a son, Mark Ware; a devoted and caregiver granddaughter, Jennifer Ware Stanford (Dustin); grandson, Jermal Ware; great-grandsons, Christian Andrews and Nicholas Ware; great-granddaughter, Ireland Maxey; nieces, Johneva Hughes, Angel Royster and Shirley Willoughby; nephew, Billy Mitchell and close friend, Damon Jarvis. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the Loudon Avenue Christian Church with Rev.

Anthony L. Holmes, Sr. officiating and Rev. Dr. William L. Lee, delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends at 10:30 am.

Interment will be in Fair View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Loudon Avenue Christian Church Scholarship Fund. Condolences may be sent to www.
