Myra’s Obituary Myra Delphine Woods Cotton, 60, a devoted wife and a loving mother of three sons, departed this life on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, to be with her heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Woods and Rodney Woods. Myra was born on June 16, 1958, to the late Mary Woods and William Warren in Roanoke, VA.

She received her education in the Roanoke City Public School System. Myra received her CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) from Arnold R. Burton Technology Center in Salem, VA. She was a woman of God.

Myra was a woman with unwavering faith and who stood firm on God’s everlasting word. She was the glue that held our family together. She was very lively, loving, caring, and always had kind and encouraging words to share.

Myra would brighten up your day when she spoke to you over the phone or in person. She had a warm and inviting spirit and welcomed people with open arms. Myra was the biggest and brightest star in a room and her presence will truly be missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard L. Cotton, Jr.; sons, Richard Cotton, III, Christopher (Angela) Cotton and Calvin Cotton; grandchildren; sisters, Cherry Woods and Roxanne Woods, both of Roanoke, VA; brother, Quinton Woods, of Roanoke, VA; uncle Joe (Rebecca) Woods, of Roanoke, VA; aunt, Bernice, of Hampton, VA; sister-in-law, Faye R. James, of Roanoke, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other devoted relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel.
