Derwin Devon Merchant March 9, 1989 – March 19, 2019 On March 19, 2019 Derwin was called home to be with our Lord. Derwin was born in Roanoke, Virginia on March 9, 1989 to Yvonne Louise Merchant and Derwin Joe Jackson. He was given the nickname that most of us fondly referred to him by… “Dee”.

Dee was what many called a true character. Growing up he was very active in sports, especially loving football, basketball and wrestling. He was very humorous, charming, outgoing, friendly and respectful to others.

His smile was contagious and his voice was rich, warm and deep. Dee absolutely loved life and his children meant the world to him. His big heart & bright, beautiful smile will truly be missed by so many.

Derwin is preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne L. Merchant; Grandparents, Jeanette Merchant and Weldon Spencer, And daughter; TaShayla Merchant. Rejoicing in Dee’s life are his two beautiful children, Arionna Raniya Jordan, Damari ‘a Devon Merchant; father, Derwin Joe Jackson; Aunt & Uncle whose raised him after his mother’s passing, Doreen Elizabeth (Ralph) Merchant, Weldon Spencer (Ronda) Merchant. He also leaves six siblings to cherish his memories, Renee (Mario) Sullivan, Joelisa Jackson, Rhiannon Jackson, Derwin (Donnae) Jackson, Katelyn Jackson, TyJuan Merchant; nieces & nephews, Mario Jay Jr., Donnae Sullivan, Quateca Jackson, Al’Kia Jackson, Reagan Jackson; Close cousins, Mishawn Merchant, Alyshia Merchant, Ralphael Merchant, Trinity Merchant, Tiyana Merchant, Nadia Merchant, SeNeja Merchant.

A special tribute to: his little cousins that he loved dearly & who held an extra special place in his heart for, Alieyah Preston and Jaylyn Merchant; Godparents, Daryl (Patricia) Gaither, along with a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 30, 2019 at Serenity Funeral Home at 1pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
