Jesse James Bolden June 12, 1942 – March 10, 2019 On the evening of March 10, 2019, Jesse James Bolden was called home to be with our Lord. Jesse was born in Appomattox, VA on June 12, 1942 to the late Herman Bolden Sr. and Katie Bolden Davis. He attended school in Roanoke, VA and worked for Goodwill Industries then the Roanoke Times in later years.

Jesse was married for 40 years to the late Orelia Ruth Taylor Bolden. He was the eighth of 11 children consisting of 7 boys and 4 girls. Being the 4th from the youngest male he learned to set himself apart by being social.

Besides being a good husband, Jesse enjoyed reading, talking on the phone and telling a good joke. One of his attributes was being able to reminisce over the good times growing up in a big family with his brothers and sisters. Then by passing it on to the younger family members he kept that loving family spirit going.

He could make anyone smile and nothing was more important to him than family! He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Katie Bolden- Davis, stepfather, Hervey Davis Sr., his wife Orelia Bolden, brothers, Arthur Bolden, William (Mary) Bolden, Herman Bolden Jr., John (Maye) Bolden and sister, Katie (Giles) Swaine, and sister-in-law Janet Davis. He leaves the following family members to mourn; sisters, Alice A. Bonds, Esther (George) Jones, Mary (Norman) Brewer, brothers, Hervey Davis, Jr. and Harvey (Brenda) Davis, sister-in-law, Christine Bolden along with a host of nieces and nephews.
