Mary Ann Hamlette Leak March 15, 1934 – January 31, 2019 Mary Ann Hamlette Leak 84, transitioned this life on January 31, 2019. MaryAnn was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on March 15, 1934. She attended Roanoke Public Schools and graduated from Lucy Addison High School.

She made her confession of faith at a very young age. As a young adult, she was baptized at Rose of Sharon Holiness Church, Roanoke, VA and became the church pianist of which she served for many years. Later, she became an active member of Abundant Grace Assembly, where Bishop Delmar Jackson was her pastor.

She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, ‘great granny’, cousin and friend. MaryAnn had an infectious smile and she loved to crack a joke. She founded several singing groups including The Vocalettes that performed throughout the city of Roanoke; playing the piano while singing hymns and songs of praise was also a favorite pastime.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Molly Betty McGhee and a brother, Winston Coles of Paris, France. Left to celebrate and cherish her love, life and legacy are seven daughters: Robin Thomas, Marlene Hamlette, Darlene (Paul) Johnson, Dalphney (Gerald) Stone, Tessa (Ben) Rhame all of Roanoke, VA; Yolanda Jean Brown, (Atlanta, GA), Delphine Hall, (Herndon, VA), one sister, Daisy Gravely, Roanoke, VA, brother, Rev. Walter (Virginia) Coles of Jacksonville, NC.

Honorable mentions: Special cousin/sister, Phyllis “Philpot” Mack, her special “Bud”, Jean Dickerson and Melvin Cooper, the son she never had. She was blessed with (18) “favorite” and “special” grandchildren, (20) great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Abundant Grace Assembly 5214 Airport Rd.

NW, Roanoke. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at the church.
