Eleanor Hilda Vrana (Fermanian) passed away on May 29, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Eleanor was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 30, 1917. She had recently moved to Champaign, Illinois to the Villa West Assisted Living Home to be close to her sons.

According to her wishes, she was cremated. There are no funeral services planned. She is survived by her sons Richard Fermanian (Dianne) and Thomas Fermanian (Nancy) and brother Walter Merten (Carol).

She had five granddaughters: Nicole, Shannon, Sara, Alysa and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Hilda Merten and her sister Betty Ann. Her husbands, Arthur Fermanian and Andrew Vrana, also preceded her in death.

She loved to travel and was an avid golfer much of her life. She also loved to visit casinos playing blackjack and slot machines. Her automobile license plate read “I hit 16” for many years.

Eleanor taught fifth grade both before and after Arthur’s death in 1964. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, 234 West Florida Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53204.
