Obituary for Eleanor Cooke Eleanor Cooke, age 51 of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 13, 2018 surrounded by the love and comfort of her children and companion at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Eleanor was born October 31, 1966 in Bridgeport, CT. The beloved daughter of the late Eddie Lawhorn Sr. & Ethel Greene.
She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend to all. Eleanor was a strong and hardworking woman. She spent over 18 years working at the local Stop & Shop as a cashier.
In her spare time she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite hobby was to gamble. She will be remembered most for her generosity, great sense of humor and cooking.
In addition to her parents, Eleanor is predeceased by: three siblings, Sandy Greene, Donna Lawhorn, and Angel Lawhorn. Eleanor is survived by: seven children; two daughters, Alicia Hilliard & son in law Randolph Pettway Jr. of Bridgeport; Lakisha Hilliard & son-in-law Nathaniel Britton of Bridgeport; five sons, Samuel Cooke Jr. & daughter-in-law Cindy DeJesus; Kevin Cooke of Bridgeport; Keith Cooke of Bridgeport; Samuel Younger Jr. of Bridgeport; Davon Younger; two brothers, Eddie Lawhorn Jr. & sister-in-law Selina Lawhorn of Bridgeport, Troy Williams of Bridgeport; and a host of grandchildren, nieces & nephews, and extended family & friends who will cherish her memory. Friends may greet the family on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from11am-12pm.
A Homegoing Celebration of Eleanor’s life will proceed at 12pm-1pm at Community Funeral Chapels 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06604 Tel: 203-334-9999. Interment will follow to Park Cemetery 620 Lindley St. Bridgeport, CT.
