Obituary for Elizabeth Blackburn Mince Elizabeth Blackburn Mince passed away peacefully at her home, November 22, 2018 following an extended illness. She was born December 5, 1933 in Valley Head, Alabama to Oscar and Naomi Blackburn. She attended Valley Head School, graduating in 1954.

She was a devoted wife and mother raising her children and later working at Lad and Lassie Daycare in Fort Payne. She attended Minvale Baptist Church. Her cats, Garfield, Ashes, and Routy, were her constant companions.

She is survived by her children: Dr. Daniel Mince (Beth), Debbie Rice (Newt). Grandchildren: Gary Mince (Courtney), Jennifer Stanley (David), Evan Mince (Caty), Grant Rice and Morgan Rice and several nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was expecting her first great-grandchild, Ava Elizabeth Stanley, in a few weeks.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband of 52 years, Willard Mince. She was the youngest of 7 children and was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruby Davis, Bill Blackburn, Mary Crabtree, William Blackburn, Laura Mae Rhudy, and Vera Crabtree. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev.

John Keefe and Dr. Nathan VanHorn officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Gary Mince, Evan Mince, David Stanley, Grant Rice, Danny Gann, and David Humble. The family would like to thank Bettina McMullan with Comfort Care Hospice and special caregivers: Cindy Rogers, Tammy Williams, Kristy Burbol, and Debbie Lynn.
