Elmira’s Obituary Ms. Elmira Bivens, age 81, a native of Silas, Alabama, and a resident of Fruitdale, Alabama was born July 1, 1937 to the parentage of the late Mr. Albert Bivens and the late Mrs. Pigeon Mitchell Bivens. She departed this life January 11, 2019 at her home. At an early age, Ms. Bivens united with First Baptist Church, Fruitdale, AL where she served on the dining committee.

She later united with Faith Christian Land Church in State Line, MS. A loving mother and homemaker, Ms. Bivens loved tending to her flower garden and was known to have a green thumb. Before her health prevented her from doing so, she enjoyed cooking and was known for her tea cakes, biscuits, lemonade, but most of all, for her sweet potato pie.

She enjoyed fishing, watching sports, especially football, and was Cam Newton’s and the Carolina Panthers most loyal fan. Her favorite television shows were NYPD, CSI, game shows, and animal shows. In addition to her parents, “Miney”, as she was lovingly called, was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Lee McGrew.

Loving memories will live on in the hearts of her devoted family, one son, Phillip Bivens of Birmingham, AL; three daughters, Gwen Smith of Fruitdale, AL; Theodora (Lee) Woulard of Moss Point, MS, and Monica (Richard Jr.) Wiley of Saraland, AL; one sister, Estelle Woulard of Lithionia, GA; six grandchildren, Latasha (Duane) Morris, Marreo (Malissa) Bivens, Jeremy Bivens, Reva Woulard, Jovon (Kareema) Woulard, and Tyson Wiley; seven great-grandchildren, Tyra, Jabari, JaMarius, Ke’Arius, Ezrique, Kace, and Kyei; sister-cousins, Wanda (Percy) Farrier and Violet Bivens; one devoted aunt, Annette Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends, five special friends, Mattie Pearl Hill, Cora Bell, Lois Forward, Rosie Monroe, and Sybil Scarbrough. Viewing Friday, January 18, 2019, 10am until the 11am service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, State Line, MS 39362; Apostle Mae Falda Taylor, eulogist.
