Elsie M. Vinson, a long time Selma resident, passed away on September 20, 2018 at the age of 98, at her daughter’s home in Deatsville, Al. Mrs. Vinson was preceded in death by her husband, Lester G. Vinson; parents, Julius Rogers and Annie B. Norwood Rogers; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Buddy) Stone and Barbara (Danny) Ealum; grandchildren, Jennifer McNeel, Michael (Savannah) Stone, Emily (James) Outland and John (Chelsea) Ealum and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Vinson was a long-time owner and operator of West End Grocery on Cahaba Road. She enjoyed 23 years with her customers, many of whom became dear friends. Mrs. Vinson enjoyed attending church where she often served in the nursery.

In later life, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Eaton officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to her late husband at New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
