Elva Ramona Stephens, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:33 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Services. Jerry Caudill will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, IN. Born March 12, 1929, in Russell Springs, KY, Ramona was the daughter of Welby R. and Gertrude Lee Bennett Edmonds.

She married Welby Stephens on April 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2000. She had retired from Muscatatuck State Development Center and had attended Queensville Community Church. Ramona enjoyed traveling, family and live country music.

Ramona is survived by three daughters, Jackie (Robert) Frenzel of Woodbridge, VA, Connie (Roy) Laswell of North Vernon and Billie Jo Samuels of Bardstown, KY; one sister, Joann Robertson of Milford, OH; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Stephens; one sister and three brothers. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Queensville Community Church.
