Emilean G. Hopkins, age 93, of Cheboygan passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. She was born September 30, 1924 in Cheboygan, the son of Joseph and Laura (Broe) Neelis. She married Harry Hopkins on March 3, 1945 in Bay City and he preceded her in death in April of 1984.

Emilean was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, going to the casino, visiting with company and was known to be a collector of many things. Survivors include her four children, Joseph (Sharon) Hopkins of Page, AZ, William (Glenda) Hopkins of Nevarro, FL, David (Maria) Hopkins of Wyandotte, MI and Donna (Bill Darga) Wirgau of Cheboygan, sister, Theresa Hennen of Dubuque, IA, brother, Bernard “Ed” (Carol) Neelis of Cheboygan, 14 grandchildren, Lori, Lisa, Michael, Karyn, Bridget, Dawn, Laura, Geoff, Candance, Mariah, Valerie, Levi, Hunter and Emily, two sisters-in-law, Shirley Neelis and Lorraine Neelis and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Harry, Emilean was preceded in death by her daughter, Emilean in 1953 and eight siblings, Lloyd Neelis, Laura Socha, Ann Duffiney, Leonard Neelis, Rose Hennen, Bill Neelis, Melvin Neelis and Hazel Ayotte-Otto.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary/St. Charles Church Maintenance Fund. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
