Obituary for Ernest Henry “Ernie” Cougill RICHMOND, Ind. – Ernest Henry “Ernie” Cougill, age 57, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Reid Health. Born March 16, 1961, in Aurora, Colorado, to Clyde Thomas and Ruth Ernestine Patterson Cougill Sr., Ernie lived in this community most of his life.

He was a 1980 graduate of Richmond High School and earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Ivy Tech in 1997. Ernie worked in the maintenance department at Ivy Tech. He was a member of Ravinia Park Baptist Church.

Ernie enjoyed crafts, especially plastic canvas and was an avid sports fan, whose favorite team was Notre Dame. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Sandra D. “Sandy” Cox Cougill; daughters, Cami Marie Conner of Evansville, Indiana, and Christina Ann (Eric) LaBoyteaux of Connersville, Indiana; son, Ernest Vance “Bud” Cougill of Richmond; granddaughters, Dezeree Joslyn Shepherd and Christian LaBoyteaux; grandson, Zachary LaBoyteaux; sisters, Olivia Ruth (David) VanBuskirk of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ascenda Lee (Mike) Strunk of Charleston, Rhode Island; brothers, Clyde Thomas (fiancée, Donna Clark) Cougill Jr. and Scott Michael (Sherri) Vance I, both of Richmond and Benjamin Harold (Patty) Vance of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; stepfather, Keith Vance of Mount Vernon; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ruth Ernestine Vance.

Memorial service for Ernest Henry “Ernie” Cougill will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Ravinia Park Baptist Church, 3015 South B Street, Richmond, with Rev. James E. Slaven officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
