Estelle’s Obituary Estelle Jeanette Abel Remmert, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019, at her home in Sealy, Texas. Estelle was born on October 7, 1926, in Bellville, Texas, to parents Edwin Abel and Hilda Wendt Abel. She was baptized into the Christian faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville shortly after birth.
A life-long Lutheran who loved the Lord and His church, Estelle was confirmed on April 6, 1941, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active with the mission plant of LifeBridge Community Church in Sealy. Spending her early childhood on the family farm near Burleigh, Estelle and her family later moved to the town of Bellville where she attended Bellville High School and graduated in May of 1944.
Estelle continued her education at Blinn College prior to accepting a position with the telephone company as a switchboard operator, a position that she held for several years. Estelle married Edwin “Buster” Remmert on February 1, 1946. They made their home in Sealy where they raised two daughters, Terrine and Debbie.
Buster and Estelle owned and operated “Community Hatchery” in Sealy while she also cared for the home. She was an excellent seamstress, making everything from school clothes to prom dresses. Estelle was also very creative and enjoyed painting, crafting, crocheting and quilting.
An avid flower gardener with a “green thumb,” Estelle enjoyed sharing a yard filled with beautiful flowers and plants. Estelle was a hard worker and possessed great determination and drive. After both daughters were grown, Estelle rejoined the marketplace as a technology component assembly department manager at Reliability in Katy, Texas, where she retired after several years of employment.
Besides working hard, Estelle and Buster also liked to have fun. They enjoyed camping, boating and fishing at Lake Somerville with family and friends. They made several trips across the United States, and Estelle traveled to Europe twice with Trinity’s Mission in Song.
They also loved to play dominoes with family and friends including various domino groups. Estelle loved being around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And no matter how busy they were, Estelle always found time to worship her Savior and her faith never waivered.
Estelle was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Abel and Hilda Hubby, and her sister, Mildred Stamnitz. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Edwin “Buster” Remmert; daughter Terrie Wintz and her husband, Carl, of Sealy; daughter Debbie Fait and husband, Robert, of Sealy; grandchildren Nicole Schorp and her husband Will of Houston, David Fait of Midland and Amanda Fait of Sealy; and great-grandchildren Marshall and Michael Schorp.
