Esther Maureen Dungan, September 29, 1935 — March 20, 2019

Esther’s Obituary Esther Maureen Dungan, of Pottstown and formerly of Perkasie, PA, and Omaha, NE, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at Pottstown Hospital – Tower Health, Pottstown, Pa. She was 83. She was the wife of George C. Dungan.

The couple had celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary on December 28, 2018. Born in Pender, NE, she was the daughter of the late John and Beryl (Blanton) Powers. A 1953 graduate of Cathedral High School, Omaha, she attained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Creighton University, Omaha, in 1957.

Mrs. Dungan was employed as a chemist for the Lehigh County Authority for over 20 years until retiring in 2001. Following her retirement there, she worked in the church office for St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, PA. A member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church, Schwenksville, PA, she was a former long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

A computer enthusiast, Mrs. Dungan loved playing computer games. She also was especially fond of planting flowers and tending to her yard. Surviving with her husband are four children, George Dungan II and his wife Josie, of Dallas, TX, Kurt Dungan and his wife Patty, of Downingtown, PA, Mark Dungan and his wife Diane, of Reading, PA, and Michael Dungan and his wife Marianne, of Trappe, PA; ten grandchildren; a brother, John C. Powers and his wife Jane, of Bradenton, FL, and a sister, Mary Lynn Rankin and her husband Dr. David, of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Marie Dungan, on February 20, 2016, and a brother, Edward Powers. Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA. Interment will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Sellersville.

Friends may call Friday evening, March 29, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA, or Saturday morning, March 30, 2019, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.
