Mr. Eugene Cook, age 76, formerly of 276 Lakeside Drive,Danville, passed away on Friday, May 03, 2019 at Roman Eagle Health & Rehab Center in Danville. He was born on May 15, 1942. He was married to Carrie Baise Cook who predeceased him.

He retired from the public works department of the City of Danville. Mr. Cook proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he retired, and was awarded several medals including the National Defense Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, among others. Mr. Cook is survived by his daughters, Cecelia Taylor (Glenn), Teresa Taylor (Jimmy), and Sue Norman (David), one brother, Billy Cook, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Carrie L. Cook, he was predeceased by his siblings, Dusty Knowles and Charles Bunn. Graveside services for Mr. Cook will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 at Highland Burial Park with Dr. Charles B. Scearce officiating. The family will be at the residence of his daughter, Sue Norman, 136 Double Tree Court, Danville, VA.

, 24540 on Sunday, May 05, 2019 from 1-6:00 p.m.; Monday, May 06, 2019 from 1 -8:00 p.m. ; and after the graveside service on Tuesday, May 07, 2019. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Legion Post 1097, 17 Fairfield Avenue, Danville, VA, 24541. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 1097 and the United States Army Honor Guard.
