Obituary for Eugene H. Payne Eugene Hyrum Payne, 90, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Mr. Payne was born in Bedford County, Virginia, a son of the late O. F. Payne and Mattie Dooley Payne. He was a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia; an educator and businessman; a life-long member of Virginia Commonwealth University Alumni Association, American Legion Post #3 and a life-long Christian.

He was a member of Roper Mountain Baptist Church. Additionally, he was a U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps veteran, having served in the Aleutian Islands and Continental U.S. from August 26, 1946 until July 2, 1949. He is survived by his wife, Susan H. Payne; a daughter Mary Ann Randall (Scott), a grandson, Allen D. Randall and a granddaughter, Ava N. Randall.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2018, at Roper Mountain Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Ron Lewis. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
