Obituary for Eutropia C. Cayabyab Eutropia C. “Tobie” Cayabyab, 89, passed away Thursday, August 30 surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Vallejo following a short illness. Eutropia was born to Dionisio and Mercedes Calugay on December 14, 1928 in San Carlos, Pangasinan, Philippines. She has lived in Vallejo the past 54 years and worked on Mare Island Naval Shipyard as an engineering technician for several years until retiring in 1988.
She was devoted to her Lassen St. Church of Christ in Vallejo and enjoyed traveling and attending every event her grandchildren were involved in. Eutropia was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Clarence Devela Jr., brothers Primo Calugay and Lope Calugay and her husband of 40 years, Vicente Cayabyab Sr. Survivors include her daughters; Gwendale Cayabyab Kopin, Carolyn Cayabyab (Bob) Ishibashi, Leila Cayabyab (Dennis) Ott, Merlynne Cayabyab (Joe) Lucero, sons; Vicente “Buddy” (Vickie) Cayabyab Jr., Clarence (Linda) Devela, Ruell John (Dawn) Cayabyab, sister, Lumen (Emy) Salindong; brother, Rodrigo (Demi) Calugay; grandchildren, Michael Kopin, Dia Kopin, Todd (Tammy) Ishibashi, Kam Ishibashi (Jonathan) Hughes, Ty (Elsa) Ishibashi, Gayla Lindsey, Nick Cayabyab, Krissy Cayabyab, Richie Flores, Chris (Shilpa) Devela, Jason Devela, Cory Devela, Sascheen Cayabyab, Rachel Ott (Aaron) Boline, Jacob (Jenica) Ott, Veronica Ott (James) Chippendale, Dominic Cayabyab, Carlo Cayabyab, Nino Cayabyab, Salvatore Cayabyab, Marselys Lucero, Sheriden Lucero, Elias Lucero, Zavier Lucero, and Selia Lucero; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Friday, September 14 and funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, September 15 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo.
