Schmaltz, 100, of Belle Fourche died November 27, 2018 at the Spearfish Regional Hospital. She was born August 5, 1918 in Courtney, North Dakota to Gilbert and Catherine (Bartkowski) Kouf. Evalyne married Tony Schmaltz on June 20, 1950 and to this union three children, Richard, Cathy and Larry were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Schmaltz; daughter, Cathy Jacobsen; infant son, Richard Schmaltz and her brother, Marvin Kouf. She is survived by her son, Larry (Patricia) Schmaltz of Tampa, Florida and granddaughters, Jennifer Jacobsen of Omaha, NE and Heather (Joe) Parrett of Aberdeen, SD. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.

A rosary will be held Friday, November 30 at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 1 at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

The family suggests memorials to the Cathy Schmaltz-Jacobsen Scholarship Fund for Nursing at Black Hills State University.
