Evelyn M. Cave, age 84, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at St. Vincent Evansville. Evelyn was born February 13, 1934, in Bismarck, ND, to John G. & Marie A. (Maas) Buckwalter. Evelyn worked at Bucyrus Erie until she married her beloved husband, John, in 1966.

She was a 55-year member of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Evelyn chaired the Area Council of Churches. She enjoyed working in the Emanuel’s Fall Festival booth and sang in the church choir for many years.

She organized and catered many church events for church members as well as preparing and serving meals for homeless shelters. One of her greatest joys was working for and with her husband in their family business. Evelyn was passionate about decorating the house for the holidays and preparing meals for her family.

Her involvement with church activities and her faith was very important in her life. Evelyn is survived by her husband, John, of 52 years, sons Kenneth and Scott (Deneen), daughter, Debra Smithhart; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Evelyn is preceded in death parents, sons, Paul and Andrew, daughter, Teresa Johns, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 308 N. First Avenue, Evansville, IN 47710 with Reverend Jim Culver officiating. Burial will be private. Friends may visit from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN.
