Obituary for Evelyn Kay Smith Evelyn Kay Smith, 68, of Johnston City passed away at 9:39 a.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with her loving family by her side. Evelyn was born January 12, 1950 in Herrin to Leo and Lillie (Mills) Sloan. She married Michael Ivan Smith on January 4, 2004 in Paducah.
Evelyn was retired having been a cosmetologist for several years. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed trips with her husband to Tunica.
She also liked to watch basketball. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. Evelyn was a 1968 graduate of Johnston City High School.
She also graduated from John A. Logan College Cosmetology Program. She was of the Christian faith. Survivors include, her husband Michael Smith; two children, Jimmy (Shelia) Key of Johnston City and Jamie (Chris) Thomas of Johnston City; three step-children, Michael (Alicia) Smith, Jr. of Herrin, Kristy (Glover) Williams of Marion and Jeffery (Melissa) Smith of Marion; five grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister, Karen West of Johnston City and Alan “Hoot” Sloan of Johnston City.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bob, Bill and Leonard Sloan; two sisters, Alma Fisher and Doris Baker. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with the eulogy given by David Sloan.
Interment will follow in the Whiteash Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
